Oral and Pitch Oral Presentation Information

Key Information:

  • The duration of a presentation during a symposium/workshop session is 10 minutes for an oral and 3 minutesfor a pitch oral presentation.

  • The suggested format for pitch oral is a maximum of 4 slides (inc title page), and a max of 11 slides (inc title page) for an oral presentation.

  • Please feel free to use the template provided or make your own.

  • For the Pre-Conference research and evaluation day (17th June), please focus your presentation on the methods used to capture and analyse the data. This is to help inform the debate on how we evolve research methods to evaluate complex school-based programmes.

  • For the #WSPA2024 conference (18th -19th June), please structure your presentation to focus on the following three areas - these are important due to the mixed stakeholders attending;

    • What did you do?

    • What was the impact?

    • What did you learn?

Tips to Prepare your Presentation Slides:

  • Try to keep your slides short and to the point.

  • Make use of graphics and photos to illustrate your message.

  • Limit distracting transitions and animations.

  • Try not to spend longer than 2 minutes per slide.

  • Make sure your presentation is no longer than 10 minutes.

Poster Presentation Information

Key Information:

  • We recommend using PowerPoint to prepare your presentation poster, please feel free to use the template provided by email or make your own.

  • The recommended dimensions are the following: 84.1 width x 118.9 height (A0 vertical template).

  • Each presenter is in charge of printing their own poster before the conference.

  • For those travelling to the conference we would recommend using the local printing service, InPrint Design https://inprintdesign.com/ which is based next to the University, however use of this service is entirely the responsibility of the presenter and not the conference organising team

  • The posters will be displayed throughout the duration of the congress. We invite you to identify your assigned number upon registration and to display your poster on arrival using the stickers provided.

Tips to create your poster:

  • Design your file at full size

  • Use columns or boxes to divide your poster into smaller sections.

  • Use bullets rather than long paragraphs to summarise information.

  • Consider using a light coloured background and dark text

  • The poster should include a summary of your project in four parts; what you did, how you did it, what difference it made, what you learnt.

  • Someone standing 3-4 feet away should be able to read everything on your poster. Suggested font size is 72 point for the title, 40 point for section headings, 24 point for the body of the text.

  • Poster content should be 60% images and 40% writing. Use graphs/charts tables and photos to summarise and resent information.

  • High resolution images (150 dpi or higher) are needed for printing high quality posters, these should be inserted into powerpoint rather than cut/copy and pasted.

  • Don’t forget to double check your poster before printing.
